Missing You

Earnest soul expression,

Drinking in

To pour out.

And long after I’m done

Reading your words,

I’m reminded of you

Like sea salt on my lips

After a day at the beach.

Waves spill upon the shore

with an earnest ‘I missed you’,

the welcome home generating

Froth and rapture, short-lived

love wanes as sea and shore separate

like lover’s hands promising soon to return.

Absence aches and agitates

what once was cradled calm

Love, unanchored

borne on gust thrust seas longs

for torpidity in lieu of memories

of what was.

too ethereal to comfort

on this longest of nights

As I wait to be beached

On your shores again.

(This one is for all the people who have marked me…. )
